The journey
Karting, lap by lap
From weekend arrive-and-drive sessions in Kent to two national championships at once, and the step up into cars.
The journey
From Bayford
to the grid
Karting is a family effort for us. The motto has always been simple: race for fun, and if we win, that's a bonus.
Start
Arrive-and-drive
It started in hire karts at Bayford Meadows in Kent, still our home club: two dads and their lads turning up for arrive-and-drive sessions, just for fun. It didn't stay just for fun for long. Zak started collecting trophies, including a win at the Bayford Meadows Hire Kart Championship round at Silverstone, and weekend fun turned into a passion for racing.

2022–23
Owner karting
Next came a Honda 160 Cadet owner kart, then Project One Racing in late 2023, where Zak learnt the foundations of competitive karting and took his first club wins.

2024
First national season
Rotax Mini Inter in the Ultimate Karting Championship with LMM Motorsport, finishing 14th overall. Along the way: a DRS35 win at Shenington, the Red Lodge O Plate and Bayford's BM Plate.

2025
Factory driver, X-Kart
Junior Rotax Primo in The Kart Championship as #69. P2 at Shenington, P2 at Glan-y-Gors, P3 at PF International: three podiums in a row and second in the standings, until a huge crash at Rowrah. He still finished fifth, then went top ten at the TB Kart World Finals in Paris.

2026
Two championships at once
His final karting season: Super One and The Kart Championship together. Injuries and mechanical trouble, but a first Super One podium (P3 at Shenington) and 8th of 48 overall despite missing two rounds.

2027
Into cars
Straight from karts into senior car racing. Daniel Truman Racing, the reigning Cooper Class champions, offered Zak the seat for the MINI Challenge ClubSport, where he is expected to be the youngest driver on the grid.
